On Sunday night, Amsterdam’s Melkweg turned into a stage for two powerful female voices — Neema and RIMON.
As a concert photographer, I had the chance to capture both performances: one full of soulful discovery, the other of pure energy and stage presence.
Before I tell you about RIMON’s show, I want to start with the opening act.
Most of the time, I’m not even there yet — I usually arrive just in time to shoot the main artist.
But this time, something told me: go early — go see Neema.
So I did.
I arrived at the Melkweg long before the lights went down, not knowing I was about to witness something truly special.
Neema took me straight back to the ‘90s — not just in sound, but also in style. Her smooth R&B vibe, her energy, her presence — it all felt nostalgic and fresh at the same time. Wearing an oversized three-quarter trouser, a blouse layered with a knitted sleeveless top, and a tie, she completely owned the stage in her own way.
Between songs, she spoke about self-love and confidence — short, honest moments that connected instantly with the crowd. The room was only half full at that point, but everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, to witness her.
Then, as the lights shifted and the stage transformed, RIMON took over — elegant, magnetic, and effortlessly in control.

RIMON – The Main Act
When RIMON stepped on stage, everything changed. The lights, the sound, the atmosphere — it all came alive in an instant. From the first note, I was fully switched on; three songs to capture the shot. That familiar rush kicked in — focus, instinct, timing — everything becomes about the photograph.
Her voice was stunning, rich and effortless. The stage was beautiful too — wide, open, and with a catwalk that stretched into the crowd. I love that kind of setup: it brings the artist closer to her audience, and it gives me room to move, to find those frames where emotion and connection meet.

I shot with my two friends — my Nikon DSLR and full-frame camera — each with their favorite lenses: 24–70mm, 70–200mm, and a 50mm for those intimate moments.
I started on the right side of the stage, moved to the front near the catwalk after the first song, and finished left of center. Same approach as with Neema — same rhythm, same instinct.

On my way back home in the tram, I realized something: I’ve never once come home tired from a show. I come home energized — wide awake, replaying the lights, the sound, the moments. It’s impossible to sleep after a night like that.
